Classic Tennessee Peach Pudding made with peaches, warm spices, a tender cake-like batter, and a rich pudding sauce.

- 5 cups peaches, peeled and diced
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup whole milk
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 cups water
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- Ice cream or whipped cream for serving
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish
- Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg
- Add milk and vanilla and whisk until smooth
- Fold peaches into the batter
- Combine topping ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil
- Pour batter into baking dish
- Pour hot topping mixture over batter
- Bake 50 to 55 minutes until golden and set
- Cool 15 minutes before serving
Notes
- Use fresh or frozen peaches
- Cover loosely with foil if browning too quickly
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream
