Description

Classic Tennessee Peach Pudding made with peaches, warm spices, a tender cake-like batter, and a rich pudding sauce.


Ingredients

  • 5 cups peaches, peeled and diced
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Ice cream or whipped cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish
  2. Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg
  3. Add milk and vanilla and whisk until smooth
  4. Fold peaches into the batter
  5. Combine topping ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil
  6. Pour batter into baking dish
  7. Pour hot topping mixture over batter
  8. Bake 50 to 55 minutes until golden and set
  9. Cool 15 minutes before serving

Notes

  1. Use fresh or frozen peaches
  2. Cover loosely with foil if browning too quickly
  3. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream
