Ingredients
-
450 g (1 lb) chicken thighs or breasts, bite-sized
-
¼ cup cornstarch
-
2 tbsp vegetable oil
-
⅓ cup honey
-
¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
-
2 tbsp ketchup
-
1 tbsp rice vinegar
-
1 tsp sesame oil
-
2 garlic cloves, minced
-
1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
-
1 tbsp water + 1 tsp cornstarch (slurry)
-
Sesame seeds, for garnish
-
Green onions, sliced, for garnish
-
Cooked rice, for serving
Instructions
-
Toss chicken pieces in cornstarch until evenly coated.
-
Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken for 6–8 minutes, flipping occasionally, until golden and cooked through.
-
In a bowl, whisk honey, soy sauce, ketchup, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Pour over chicken.
-
Stir in cornstarch slurry and simmer 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens and coats the chicken.
-
Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve hot over rice.
Notes
Chicken thighs are juicier, but breasts work fine.
Cook in batches for crispier chicken.
Thin the sauce with water if too thick.
Toast sesame seeds for a deeper flavor.
Sauce can be prepped ahead and refrigerated.
