Description

A simple yet elegant appetizer featuring tender steak, creamy horseradish sauce, and caramelized shallots served over crisp crostini.


Ingredients

Scale

1 lb filet mignon or tenderloin

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tbsp unsalted butter

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp dried thyme

1 baguette, sliced thin

Olive oil for brushing

1/2 cup mayonnaise

2 tbsp horseradish

1 tbsp Dijon mustard

1 tbsp lemon juice

2 large shallots, thinly sliced

1 tbsp balsamic vinegar

1 tbsp brown sugar


Instructions

1. Season steak and let rest 30 minutes.

2. Mix horseradish sauce ingredients; refrigerate.

3. Caramelize shallots in butter with vinegar and sugar.

4. Sear steak 4 minutes per side; rest.

5. Toast baguette slices with olive oil.

6. Assemble crostini with sauce, steak, and shallots.

Notes

Best served fresh. Make sauce and shallots ahead for convenience.
