Description

Moist Sour Cream Apple Cake filled with diced apples and topped with a cinnamon walnut crumble.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups diced apples
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 13×9-inch pan.
  2. Beat butter and sugar until combined.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla and beat until fluffy.
  4. Sift flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt together.
  5. Alternate dry ingredients with sour cream until combined.
  6. Fold in diced apples.
  7. Spread batter into prepared pan.
  8. Mix walnuts, cinnamon, brown sugar, and melted butter.
  9. Sprinkle topping over batter.
  10. Bake 35 to 40 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  11. Cool slightly and serve.

  1. Use firm baking apples for best texture.
  2. Do not overmix the batter.
