Description

Smash Burger Tacos are a delicious fusion of two American classics: burgers and tacos. Ground beef is smashed onto a hot griddle to create crispy, golden edges and juicy centers, then topped with cheese, burger sauce, and fresh toppings. All of this is wrapped in a soft tortilla instead of a bun, making these tacos a crispy, flavor-packed twist on traditional tacos and burgers.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Smash Burgers:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend for best flavor)

  • 6 small flour tortillas

  • 6 slices of cheese (American, cheddar, or your favorite)

  • Mayonnaise (optional)

  • Ketchup

  • Yellow mustard

  • Sweet relish

  • Hot sauce (optional)

For the Burger Sauce:

  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise

  • 1 tbsp ketchup

  • 1 tsp mustard

  • 1 tsp relish

  • A few drops of hot sauce (optional)

Toppings:

  • Shredded lettuce

  • Diced onions

  • Sliced pickles

Instructions

  • Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, relish, and hot sauce (if using). Mix well and set aside.

  • Form the Patties: Divide the ground beef into 6 equal balls. Heat a griddle or skillet over medium-high heat. Place each beef ball on the hot surface and press down firmly with a spatula to flatten it. Cook for about 2 minutes until the edges are crispy.

  • Add the Tortilla: Place a tortilla on top of the patty. Press gently, then flip the entire patty and tortilla over. Add a slice of cheese on top. Cook for another 1 minute until the cheese melts and the tortilla is crispy.

  • Assemble the Tacos: Remove from the skillet. Add a spoonful of the burger sauce, then top with lettuce, onions, and pickles. Fold the tortilla and serve immediately.

Notes

You can use ground turkey or chicken if you prefer a leaner option.

For a spicy kick, add diced jalapeños or sprinkle red pepper flakes in the beef.

You can substitute the cheese for a dairy-free version if needed.
