Reese’s Cup Easter Bunny Cupcakes are festive and fun spring treats made with chocolate cupcakes, creamy frosting, and adorable bunny decorations using Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Perfect for parties, brunches, or gifting, these cupcakes combine creative design with rich, chocolatey-peanut buttery flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

Cupcake Base:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup hot water

Frosting Options (choose one):

  • Chocolate buttercream

  • Peanut butter frosting

  • Ganache

  • Cream cheese frosting (optional)

Bunny Decorations:

  • 12 mini or standard Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (unwrapped)

  • 24 candy eyes

  • 12 pink round candies (e.g., mini M&Ms or Sixlets)

  • 6 Tootsie Rolls (flattened and cut into ears)

  • 24 Whoppers or Maltesers (as bunny paws)

  • 12 gummy candy carrots (optional)

  • Black edible marker (for drawing whiskers/mouth)

Optional Add-ons:

  • Green colored coconut flakes

  • Pastel sprinkles

  • Edible glitter

  • Mini fondant flowers

  • Mini marshmallows

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with cupcake liners.

  2. Mix dry ingredients: Combine flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.

  3. Mix wet ingredients: In another bowl, beat eggs, sugar, milk, oil, and vanilla until smooth.

  4. Combine wet and dry mixtures. Add hot water and mix gently until smooth.

  5. Pour batter into liners, filling 2/3 full.

  6. Bake for 18–22 minutes. Check with a toothpick. Cool completely before decorating.

Decorating Steps:

  1. Make bunny heads: Add candy eyes and pink candy nose to each Reese’s Cup using melted chocolate as glue. Draw mouth and whiskers with edible marker.

  2. Make ears: Roll out Tootsie Rolls, cut ear shapes, and chill for 5 minutes. Attach to Reese’s Cups with melted chocolate.

  3. Assemble bunnies: Place bunny heads on cupcakes. Add Whoppers as paws and gummy carrot in between.

  4. Add finishing touches: Sprinkle colored coconut “grass,” mini eggs, or pastel sprinkles for a festive look.
