- 2 1/2 teaspoons instant dry yeast
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup vegetable shortening
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 to 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 1/3 cups powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons milk
- 2 to 4 teaspoons water
- 4 large peaches, peeled, pitted, and diced
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch nutmeg
- Pinch salt
Instructions
- Combine yeast, water, sugar, milk, salt, shortening, eggs, and vanilla in a stand mixer bowl.
- Add flour gradually and knead until a soft dough forms.
- Transfer dough to a greased bowl and let rise for 1 1/2 hours.
- Mix peaches with sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Let peach mixture sit for 1 hour, then cook until thickened and blend until mostly smooth.
- Roll dough out and cut into 12 donuts.
- Let donuts rise another 30 minutes.
- Heat oil to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Fry donuts until golden brown on both sides.
- Whisk glaze ingredients together until smooth.
- Dip warm donuts into glaze.
- Pipe peach filling into each donut before serving.
Notes
- Use ripe peaches for the best flavor.
- Do not overfill the donuts with peach filling.
- Maintain frying temperature near 350 degrees Fahrenheit for even cooking.
