Description

This Peach Iced Tea is a refreshing homemade summer drink made with fresh peaches, black tea, and a simple peach syrup. Serve it chilled over ice for a fruity, smooth, and easy pitcher drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 black tea bags
  • 4 cups boiling water
  • 3 large ripe peaches, chopped
  • 2 cups water, divided
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar, or 1/2 cup for sweeter tea
  • Ice, for serving
  • Fresh peach slices, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Bring 4 cups of water to a light simmer in a pot or electric kettle.
  2. Remove the water from the heat, add the black tea bags, and steep for 5 minutes.
  3. Remove the tea bags and let the black tea cool before transferring it to the refrigerator to chill.
  4. Add chopped peaches, sugar, and 1 cup water to a blender.
  5. Pulse for 2 to 3 seconds, just until the peaches break down.
  6. Pour the peach mixture into a large pot and add the remaining 1 cup water.
  7. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  8. Remove the pot from the heat and let the peach syrup steep for 30 minutes.
  9. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher or jar, pressing the peach puree to release all the juice.
  10. Chill the peach syrup in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  11. Combine the chilled black tea and peach syrup in a large pitcher.
  12. Stir well, pour over ice, garnish with peach slices, and serve cold.

Notes

  1. Store Peach Iced Tea in a covered pitcher or jar in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  2. For a sweeter tea, use 1/2 cup sugar in the syrup or stir simple syrup into individual glasses.
  3. Do not add ice to the pitcher until serving, because melted ice will dilute the tea.
  4. The flavor tastes even better after several hours in the refrigerator.
