This Mozzarella Cheesesteak Stromboli is a crispy, golden-brown pizza dough stuffed with tender beef, sautéed peppers and onions, and melty mozzarella cheese. It’s a hearty, flavor-packed dish perfect for game nights, parties, or a satisfying family dinner. Serve it with marinara or garlic butter for dipping!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Filling:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 pound thinly sliced ribeye steak (or deli roast beef)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

For the Dough:

  • 1 pound pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for rolling)

For the Topping:

  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven:

    • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Prepare the Filling:

    • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Add sliced steak, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cook for 2-3 minutes until browned.
    • Stir in bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms. Sauté until softened, about 4 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  • Assemble the Stromboli:

    • Lightly flour a surface and roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle (about 10×14 inches).
    • Evenly spread the steak and veggie mixture over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
    • Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top.
  • Roll and Seal:

    • Carefully roll the dough into a log, starting from the long edge. Tuck in the ends and pinch to seal.
    • Place the stromboli seam-side down on the baking sheet.
  • Add Toppings & Bake:

    • Brush the top with beaten egg.
    • Sprinkle with Italian seasoning and Parmesan cheese.
    • Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp.
  • Cool & Serve:

    • Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing.
    • Serve with marinara sauce or garlic butter for dipping.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add provolone cheese along with mozzarella.
  • Swap ribeye for ground beef or shredded chicken for a different twist.
  • Make it spicy by adding red pepper flakes or jalapeños.
