Description

This Million Dollar Potato Casserole is a creamy and rich baked potato dish made with butter, cream cheese, sour cream, and cheddar.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh chives, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish
  2. Whisk butter, cream cheese, sour cream, milk, and seasonings until smooth
  3. Add potatoes and coat evenly
  4. Stir in 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese
  5. Spread mixture into baking dish and cover with foil
  6. Bake 45 minutes until potatoes are tender
  7. Remove foil and add remaining cheese
  8. Bake uncovered 15 to 20 minutes until bubbly and lightly golden
  9. Rest 5 to 10 minutes before serving
  10. Garnish with chives if desired

Notes

  1. Slice potatoes evenly for consistent cooking
  2. Assemble ahead and refrigerate up to 24 hours
  3. Add bacon or alternate cheeses if desired
