Description
Mediterranean chicken patties are a flavorful, healthy option for any meal. These juicy, herb-infused patties are made with ground chicken, fresh herbs, garlic, and a hint of citrus. Perfect for serving with pita, salads, or as part of a grain bowl, they offer a lighter, yet satisfying alternative to classic meat patties.
Ingredients
-
1 pound ground chicken (mix of breast and thigh for more flavor)
-
1 small onion, finely chopped
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
-
1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
-
1 tablespoon fresh oregano, chopped
-
1 tablespoon lemon juice
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
-
1/4 cup breadcrumbs (or oat flour/almond flour for gluten-free)
-
1 large egg
-
1/4 cup feta cheese (optional)
-
1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
Instructions
-
In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, onion, garlic, herbs, and lemon juice.
-
Add salt, pepper, breadcrumbs, egg, and feta (if using).
-
Mix everything together until fully combined. Avoid over-mixing.
-
Shape the mixture into 1/2-inch thick patties.
-
Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
-
Cook patties for 4–5 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C).
-
Alternatively, grill or bake the patties at 400°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
-
Serve warm with tzatziki, hummus, or your favorite sauce.
Notes
For a spicier version, add chili flakes or cayenne pepper.
If using frozen breadcrumbs, ensure they are fully thawed before mixing.
The patties can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 24 hours before cooking.
