Description

Maryland Style Crab Cakes are an authentic, flavorful seafood dish. Made with jumbo lump blue crab meat, minimal fillers, and seasoned with Old Bay and lemon, these cakes highlight the natural sweetness of the crab. Simple and delicious, these crab cakes bring the taste of Chesapeake Bay to your home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb jumbo lump crab meat

  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise

  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

  • 1 large egg

  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs or crushed saltines

  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for pan-frying, optional)

Instructions

  • Carefully pick through the crab meat and remove any shells.

  • In a bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, mustard, egg, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and Old Bay seasoning.

  • Gently fold the crab meat into the mixture, then add breadcrumbs and parsley.

  • Shape into cakes, about 1/3 cup per cake.

  • Chill the cakes in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

  • For baking: Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C) and bake for 12-14 minutes.
For broiling: Broil on high for 2-3 minutes.
For pan-frying: Cook in oil for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.

  • Serve with lemon wedges and your choice of dipping sauce.

Notes

Use fresh jumbo lump crab meat for the best texture.

Be careful not to overmix the crab mixture to keep the cakes tender and chunky.

Chill the cakes before cooking to help them hold their shape.
