Description

Mac and Cheese Meatloaf Casserole combines tender ground beef with creamy macaroni and cheese in one comforting baked dish.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 cups uncooked macaroni
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp dry mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a baking dish.
  2. Mix ground beef, onion, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, salt, and pepper and press into dish.
  3. Bake meatloaf for 20 minutes.
  4. Cook macaroni according to package directions and drain.
  5. Melt butter, whisk in flour, and gradually add milk until thick.
  6. Season sauce and stir in cheese until melted.
  7. Combine macaroni with cheese sauce and spread over meatloaf.
  8. Top with extra cheese and bake 25 minutes until bubbly.

Notes

  1. Let casserole rest 10 minutes before slicing.
  2. Use sharp cheddar for stronger flavor.
  3. Store leftovers refrigerated up to four days.
