Description

The Korean Ground Beef Bowl is a quick and flavorful dish that brings the bold, savory taste of Korean cuisine to your table. Made with ground beef, a sweet and savory sauce, and served over rice, this meal is a perfect choice for busy weeknights. It’s easy to prepare, customizable, and packed with delicious flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef (90% lean)

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil

  • ¼ cup reduced-sodium soy sauce

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

  • 2 cups hot cooked rice (white, brown, or cauliflower rice)

  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced

  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

  • Optional toppings: pickled vegetables, kimchi, or a fried egg

Instructions

  • Prepare the Beef: Heat sesame oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, sauté for 1 minute. Add ground beef, breaking it apart as it cooks. Cook for 5–7 minutes until browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat if needed.

  • Season the Beef: Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, and black pepper. Let it simmer for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and the beef is coated with the flavorful sauce.

  • Assemble the Bowl: Serve the beef over hot rice. Garnish with sliced green onions, sesame seeds, and optional toppings like pickled vegetables, kimchi, or a fried egg.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, use tamari or coconut aminos in place of soy sauce.

If you’re following a low-carb diet, serve the beef over cauliflower rice.

You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or a plant-based alternative for a lighter or vegetarian option.
