2 tbsp brown sugar
-
1 tbsp sesame oil
-
3 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
-
1 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
-
1 cup broccoli florets (optional)
-
2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
-
2 cups cooked rice (white or brown)
-
1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
-
Brown the Beef:
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef for 5–7 minutes, breaking it apart until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary. -
Flavor Base:
Add garlic and ginger, stir, and cook for 2 more minutes until fragrant. -
Sauce It Up:
Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened. -
Add Broccoli (Optional):
Stir in broccoli florets and cook for 3–4 minutes until tender-crisp. -
Assemble Bowls:
Add cooked rice to each bowl. Top with beef mixture, broccoli, green onions, and sesame seeds.
Notes
For more heat, increase red pepper flakes or drizzle sriracha on top.
Add a fried egg to make the bowl extra satisfying.
Leftover or day-old rice works best to absorb the flavorful sauce.
Easily swap beef with ground turkey or chicken.
Great for meal prep—flavors deepen after chilling overnight.
