Ingredients
-
1 pound jumbo shrimp (16/20 count), peeled and deveined
-
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
-
4 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 tablespoon lemon juice
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
-
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
-
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
-
If using frozen shrimp, thaw them and pat dry with a paper towel.
-
Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a wide pan over medium heat.
-
Add the shrimp to the pan in a single layer. Cook for 2 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the shrimp turn pink and curl.
-
Remove shrimp from the pan and set aside.
-
In the same pan, melt the remaining butter. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds, being careful not to burn the garlic.
-
Add lemon juice, salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes. Stir to combine.
-
Return the shrimp to the pan and toss to coat in the sauce. Cook for another 1 minute.
-
Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve hot.
Notes
For a creamy version, add 2-3 tablespoons of heavy cream to the sauce.
If you prefer a smokier flavor, grill the shrimp instead of pan-searing them.
Adjust the level of spice by adding more or less red pepper flakes.
