Description

Grilled Jalapeño Poppers are a smoky, creamy, and spicy treat that’s perfect for cookouts, parties, or game-day snacking. With fresh jalapeños stuffed with a cheesy filling and cooked to melty perfection over the grill, these little bites deliver big flavor with simple ingredients. Customize them with your favorite add-ins or toppings for a truly crave-worthy dish.

Ingredients

Scale

Basic Poppers:

  • 10 medium jalapeños, halved and deseeded

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened

  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • ½ cup shredded Monterey Jack or pepper jack

  • ¼ tsp garlic powder

  • ¼ tsp smoked paprika

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Optional Add-Ins:

  • ¼ cup chopped green onions

  • ¼ cup diced cooked chicken, bacon, or plant-based crumbles

  • 2 tbsp chopped herbs (parsley, cilantro)

  • Crushed crackers or breadcrumbs for topping

  • Thin veggie slices (zucchini or eggplant) for wrapping

  • Toothpicks (to secure wraps)

Instructions

  • Prep the Jalapeños:
Wash peppers and cut them in half lengthwise. Remove seeds and ribs using a small spoon.

  • Make the Filling:
In a bowl, mix cream cheese, shredded cheeses, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add optional mix-ins like green onions or diced chicken if using.

  • Stuff the Peppers:
Fill each jalapeño half with the cheese mixture. Don’t overfill. Chill for 10 minutes if the filling feels too soft.

  • Wrap (Optional):
Wrap stuffed poppers in thin veggie slices or use toothpicks to keep toppings in place.

  • Grill Setup:
Preheat grill to medium heat (375–400°F). Use indirect heat if possible. Lightly oil grill grates or use a grill rack or basket.

  • Grill the Poppers:
Place poppers cut-side up. Cook for 15–20 minutes with the lid closed, or until cheese is bubbling and jalapeños are tender with light char.

  • Serve:
Let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy as-is or with dipping sauces.

Notes

  • Lighter green jalapeños are milder; darker ones are hotter.

  • Chill stuffed peppers before grilling to reduce overflow.

  • Add lime juice to the filling for a fresh twist.

  • Grill extras like corn or chicken at the same time to complete the meal.

  • Great with ranch, chipotle sauce, or sour cream for dipping.
