Description

Crispy fried homemade cheese curds with a quick batter and melty center.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds cheese curds
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 quarts vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large frying pan to 375°F
  2. Whisk milk, flour, baking soda, garlic powder, and egg until smooth
  3. Coat 8 to 10 cheese curds in batter
  4. Fry each curd for about 1 minute, flipping halfway, until golden brown
  5. Drain on paper towels and repeat with remaining curds

Notes

  1. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days
  2. Reheat in oven, toaster oven, or air fryer
  3. Do not freeze for best texture
