Crispy fried homemade cheese curds with a quick batter and melty center.
Ingredients

- 2 pounds cheese curds
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1 1/2 quarts vegetable oil
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large frying pan to 375°F
- Whisk milk, flour, baking soda, garlic powder, and egg until smooth
- Coat 8 to 10 cheese curds in batter
- Fry each curd for about 1 minute, flipping halfway, until golden brown
- Drain on paper towels and repeat with remaining curds
Notes
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days
- Reheat in oven, toaster oven, or air fryer
- Do not freeze for best texture
