Description

Hoisin Beef Noodles are a savory, sweet, and umami-filled dish made with stir-fried beef, vegetables, and noodles, all coated in a rich hoisin sauce. This easy-to-make dish brings together the best of Chinese cuisine in a satisfying, flavorful meal.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Beef and Noodles:

  • 1 lb ground beef (or chicken, shrimp, or tofu)

  • 12 oz noodles (egg noodles, rice noodles, udon, or soba)

  • 1 bell pepper (sliced)

  • 1 carrot (sliced)

  • 1 onion (sliced)

  • 1 cup bok choy (chopped)

  • 1/2 cup snap peas (optional)

For the Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar

  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)

  • 1 tbsp ginger (grated)

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • 1 tsp chili flakes (optional, for heat)

Instructions

  • Heat sesame oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Remove the beef and set aside.

  • In the same pan, stir-fry the vegetables (carrots, bell peppers, onions, bok choy, and snap peas) for about 3-4 minutes, until tender-crisp.

  • Meanwhile, cook the noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

  • In a bowl, mix hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger to make the sauce.

  • Add the beef back to the pan with the vegetables. Add the cooked noodles and pour the sauce over everything. Toss well to coat.

  • Let everything cook for another 1-2 minutes to ensure it’s all heated through. Serve with optional chili flakes or garnishes like sesame seeds or cilantro.

Notes

Swap the beef for tofu or shrimp for a different protein.

For a gluten-free version, use rice noodles and gluten-free soy sauce or tamari.
