Description

Grilled carrots coated in a buttery honey brown sugar glaze create a sweet and smoky side dish perfect for holidays or summer grilling.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound carrots
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill to 450°F with direct and indirect heat zones.
  2. Wash and trim carrots, slicing thick carrots lengthwise.
  3. Toss carrots with olive oil.
  4. Place carrots on grill over direct heat and rotate every few minutes.
  5. Cook for about 12 to 15 minutes until fork tender.
  6. In a saucepan combine butter, brown sugar, honey, and salt over medium heat.
  7. Whisk until the sugar dissolves and the glaze becomes smooth.
  8. Add orange juice and cinnamon if desired.
  9. Brush carrots with glaze just before removing from grill.
  10. Cook one more minute then remove and brush again with glaze before serving.

Notes

  1. Rotate carrots around the grill since some spots cook hotter.
  2. Move carrots to indirect heat if they cook too quickly.
  3. Brush glaze while hot for best coating.
