Quick and easy homemade cherry sauce made with sweet cherries and simple ingredients. Perfect for cheesecake, pancakes, waffles, and ice cream.

- 4 cups sweet cherries, pitted
- 1/3 cup water for fresh cherries or 1/4 cup for frozen cherries
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons sugar
Instructions
- Wash and pit the cherries if using fresh cherries.
- Whisk together water, cornstarch, lemon juice, and sugar in a saucepan.
- Place over medium heat and whisk until slightly thickened.
- Add cherries and cook until the sauce bubbles evenly and thickens.
- Remove from heat and cool to room temperature.
- Transfer to a mason jar or airtight container and refrigerate.
Notes
- Use frozen cherries when fresh cherries are not in season.
- The sauce thickens more after cooling.
- Store refrigerated for up to one week.
