- 1 lb large shrimp peeled and deveined
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup chicken broth or white wine
- 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley chopped for garnish
Instructions
- Season shrimp with paprika salt and black pepper
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium high heat and cook shrimp for 2 to 3 minutes turning once until pink then remove from pan
- Reduce heat to medium and melt butter in the same skillet then sauté garlic for 1 minute until fragrant
- Pour in chicken broth or white wine and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes to reduce slightly
- Add heavy cream Parmesan cheese Italian seasoning and red pepper flakes and stir well
- Simmer sauce for 3 to 4 minutes until slightly thickened
- Return shrimp to the skillet and coat them in the creamy sauce
- Simmer for 2 minutes then garnish with fresh parsley and serve
Notes
- Do not overcook shrimp because they become tough
- Use freshly grated Parmesan for smoother sauce
- Serve with pasta rice or crusty bread for a complete meal
