Description

A quick and cozy dumpling soup made with frozen potstickers, aromatic garlic and ginger, and a savory broth. Ready in just 20 minutes, this Asian-inspired comfort food feels like it’s been simmering all day—perfect for weeknights, family dinners, or a warming solo meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1215 frozen potstickers (store-bought or homemade)

  • 4 cups (960 ml) chicken or vegetable broth

  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) sesame oil

  • 2 tsp grated ginger

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 23 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

  • ½ cup (45 g) sliced mushrooms (optional)

  • ½ cup (15 g) spinach or bok choy (optional)

  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) rice vinegar (optional)

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1 tsp (5 ml) chili oil or red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

Heat sesame oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger; sauté about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Pour in broth and bring to a gentle simmer.

Add frozen potstickers carefully. Cook 5–7 minutes until tender and floating.

In the last 2–3 minutes, add mushrooms or greens if using.

Stir in soy sauce, rice vinegar (optional), salt, and pepper.

Ladle soup into bowls. Top with chopped green onions and a drizzle of chili oil or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for heat. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use homemade or high-quality store-bought broth for the best flavor.

Avoid over-stirring; potstickers are delicate and can break apart.

Customize with your favorite vegetables like carrots, baby corn, or zucchini.

For meal prep, store broth separately and cook fresh potstickers when reheating.

Add miso paste or a squeeze of lime for extra depth or brightness.
