Description

Rich Chocolate Banana Bread loaded with cocoa, ripe bananas, and chocolate chips. Moist, easy, and perfect for dessert or snacking.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup Dutch-process cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 3 large ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup canola oil or melted coconut oil
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Mash bananas in a large bowl and stir in butter and oil.
  4. Mix in brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract.
  5. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and stir until combined.
  6. Fold in 3/4 cup chocolate chips.
  7. Pour batter into prepared pan and top with remaining chocolate chips.
  8. Bake for 50 to 65 minutes until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
  9. Cool in pan for 15 minutes.
  10. Transfer to a wire rack, cool slightly, slice, and serve.

Notes

  1. Do not overmix the batter.
  2. Use very ripe bananas for best flavor.
  3. Store at room temperature for up to 4 days.
  4. Freeze for up to 1 month.
