- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup Dutch-process cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 3 large ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup canola oil or melted coconut oil
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, divided
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
- Whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
- Mash bananas in a large bowl and stir in butter and oil.
- Mix in brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract.
- Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and stir until combined.
- Fold in 3/4 cup chocolate chips.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and top with remaining chocolate chips.
- Bake for 50 to 65 minutes until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
- Cool in pan for 15 minutes.
- Transfer to a wire rack, cool slightly, slice, and serve.
Notes
- Do not overmix the batter.
- Use very ripe bananas for best flavor.
- Store at room temperature for up to 4 days.
- Freeze for up to 1 month.
