Description

Juicy carne asada marinated in citrus, garlic, and herbs, then grilled for bold flavor and tender texture.


Ingredients

  • ½ cup chopped fresh cilantro leaves
  • ⅓ cup olive oil
  • ¼ cup reduced sodium soy sauce
  • ¼ cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jalapeno, seeded and diced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Kosher salt
  • Black pepper
  • 1 ½ pounds flank steak

Instructions

  1. Combine cilantro, olive oil, soy sauce, orange juice, lime juice, garlic, jalapeno, cumin, and pepper in a bowl
  2. Reserve 1/2 cup of marinade and refrigerate
  3. Place steak in a bag and coat with remaining marinade
  4. Marinate for at least 4 hours or overnight, turning occasionally
  5. Preheat grill to medium-high heat
  6. Remove steak and pat dry, then season with salt and pepper
  7. Grill steak for about 6 minutes per side for medium-rare
  8. Let steak rest for 5 minutes
  9. Slice thinly against the grain and serve with reserved marinade
