Description
A hearty Cajun Dirty Rice made with shrimp, smoked sausage, vegetables, and seasoned rice cooked in one pan.
Ingredients

- 2 cups long-grain white rice
- 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 8 ounces smoked sausage, sliced
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 2 stalks celery, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 green onions, sliced
- Fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Rinse rice under cold water until clear and drain well
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet and brown the sausage for 5 minutes
- Add onion, bell pepper, celery, and garlic and cook until softened
- Stir in shrimp, Cajun seasoning, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce and cook until shrimp turn pink
- Add rice and chicken broth and bring to a boil
- Reduce heat, cover, and simmer until rice is tender
- Let rest briefly, fluff, and garnish before serving
Notes
- Add diced jalapeños for more heat
- Substitute chicken or tofu for shrimp if desired
