Description

Burger Pizza Pie combines a crispy pizza crust with tangy cheeseburger sauce, savory ground beef, dill pickles, onion, and plenty of melted mozzarella for an easy family-friendly dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 recipe pizza dough
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 5 to 6 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2/3 cup sliced dill pickles
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion
  • 2/3 cup ketchup
  • 1/3 cup yellow mustard
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F.
  2. Roll or stretch the pizza dough and pre-bake it for 6 minutes.
  3. Cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it into small crumbles until fully cooked. Drain excess grease.
  4. Combine the ketchup, yellow mustard, and mayonnaise in a small bowl until smooth.
  5. Spread the burger sauce evenly over the pre-baked pizza crust.
  6. Sprinkle a light layer of mozzarella over the sauce.
  7. Add the cooked ground beef, chopped onion, and sliced dill pickles.
  8. Cover the toppings with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
  9. Bake for 8 to 12 minutes, or until the cheese melts and bubbles and the crust turns golden.
  10. Rest for 3 to 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  1. Add cooked bacon pieces, peppers, different melting cheeses, or cooked onion rings for variation.
  2. Mix hot sauce into the burger sauce for extra heat.
  3. Add precooked French fries before baking for a hearty burger-inspired variation.
  4. For make-ahead preparation, assemble the toppings on the pre-baked crust, cover tightly, and refrigerate for up to one day before baking.
  5. For freezing, assemble the pizza on the pre-baked crust, wrap well, and freeze for up to 2 months. Bake from frozen and add a few extra minutes to the cooking time.
