Description
Beef and broccoli cooked on a hot griddle with a savory Chinese takeout style sauce. Tender beef strips and crisp broccoli cook quickly together for an easy weeknight griddle meal.

- 1 – 1½ lb beef (flank steak, sirloin, or ribeye), sliced thin against the grain
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 5 cups broccoli florets
- 2–3 tablespoons cooking oil
- Fresh cracked black pepper
- Sliced green onions
- Sesame seeds
- ½ cup beef stock
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon minced ginger
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Pat sliced beef dry and place in a bowl
- Sprinkle baking soda over beef and massage to coat evenly
- Cover and refrigerate for 20 minutes
- Rinse beef under cold water and pat dry
- Whisk together beef stock, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes
- Preheat griddle to 375–400°F
- Add cooking oil to the griddle surface
- Spread beef in a thin layer and cook 60–90 seconds
- Season with black pepper and sauté briefly
- Move beef to cooler side of griddle
- Cook broccoli on hotter zone for 2–3 minutes
- Pour half the sauce over broccoli and sauté
- Add beef back with broccoli
- Pour remaining sauce and cook 1–2 minutes until thickened
- Garnish with sesame seeds or green onions and serve
Notes
- Prepare all ingredients before cooking since stir fry cooks very quickly
- Adjust sweetness or spice by adding more brown sugar or red pepper flakes
- Serve with white rice, fried rice, or cauliflower rice
