Ingredients

½ cup (100 g) white sugar

¼ cup (55 g) brown sugar

½ cup (115 g) butter or shortening

½ tsp baking soda

¼ tsp vanilla extract

½ tsp cream of tartar

Additional white sugar for rolling
Instructions

Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Cream white sugar, brown sugar, and butter until fluffy.

Beat in egg and vanilla.

In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, salt, baking soda, and cream of tartar.

Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture to form dough.

Scoop dough into balls and roll in extra white sugar.

Place on baking sheet about 5 cm apart. Do not flatten.
